King Louis II
King Louis II, also known as Louis II of Bavaria, was the monarch of Bavaria from 1864 until his mysterious death in 1886. He is often referred to as the "Fairy Tale King" due to his extravagant castles, including the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, which inspired Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. Louis was known for his reclusive nature and artistic interests, often supporting composers like Richard Wagner.
Despite his popularity, Louis faced political challenges and was declared insane shortly before his death. His reign was marked by a fascination with the arts and a desire to create a romanticized vision of medieval Europe. His legacy continues to attract tourists to his stunning palaces.
