King Louis I
King Louis I, also known as Louis the Pious, was the son of Charlemagne and became the King of the Franks in 814 AD. He ruled over a vast empire that included much of Western Europe. Louis is known for his efforts to maintain and expand his father's legacy, focusing on religious reforms and the promotion of Christianity throughout his realm.
During his reign, Louis I faced challenges, including internal conflicts among his sons and nobles. His attempts to divide the empire among his heirs led to civil strife, ultimately weakening the unity of the Frankish Empire. Louis died in 840 AD, leaving a fragmented kingdom.
