King Charles Emmanuel IV of Sardinia
King Charles Emmanuel IV of Sardinia was born on May 24, 1751, and became the King of Sardinia in 1796. He was a member of the House of Savoy and ruled during a tumultuous period marked by the French Revolutionary Wars. His reign was characterized by efforts to maintain the independence of his kingdom amid external pressures.
In 1802, Charles Emmanuel IV abdicated the throne and chose to live in exile in Rome. He later became a devout Catholic and entered a religious order, dedicating his life to spiritual pursuits. He passed away on October 6, 1819, leaving behind a legacy of a king who prioritized faith over power.
