Kagyupa
Kagyupa is one of the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism, known for its emphasis on the teachings of the Buddha and the practice of meditation. Founded in the 11th century by the Indian master Marpa, it focuses on the transmission of teachings through a lineage of teachers, emphasizing the importance of direct experience and realization.
The Kagyupa school is particularly recognized for its practices of Mahamudra and Vajrayana techniques, which aim to achieve enlightenment. Its teachings are often passed down through oral transmission, and the school has produced many notable figures, including the famous yogi Milarepa.
