K'inich Janaab' Pakal, often referred to simply as Pakal, was a prominent Maya ruler of the city-state of Palenque in present-day Mexico. He reigned from 615 to 683 CE and is known for his significant contributions to the city's architecture and culture. Pakal commissioned the construction of many important structures, including the famous Temple of the Inscriptions, which served as his tomb.
