Joymoti Konwari
Joymoti Konwari was a courageous figure in Assamese history, known for her unwavering spirit and sacrifice. She was the wife of Chandrakanta Singha, the king of Ahom, and played a significant role during the 17th century when the Ahom kingdom faced threats from the Mughals.
Her bravery is celebrated for resisting Mughal forces and protecting her husband’s kingdom. Joymoti was captured and tortured but remained steadfast in her loyalty, refusing to betray her people. Her story symbolizes the strength and resilience of women in the face of adversity, making her an enduring icon in Assamese culture.
