José Antonio Primo de Rivera
José Antonio Primo de Rivera was a Spanish politician and founder of the Falange Española, a fascist political party established in 1933. Born on April 24, 1903, he was the son of former dictator Miguel Primo de Rivera. José Antonio aimed to unify Spain and promote nationalist ideals, advocating for a strong, centralized government.
He became a prominent figure during the turbulent years leading up to the Spanish Civil War. In 1936, he was arrested and executed by Republican forces, which further solidified his status as a martyr for the nationalist cause. His legacy continues to influence far-right movements in Spain.
