Johanna of Naples
Johanna of Naples was a queen who ruled from 1343 to 1382. Born in 1328, she was the daughter of Charles, Duke of Calabria and Marie of Valois. Johanna became queen after the death of her grandfather, Robert of Anjou, and was known for her intelligence and political acumen.
Her reign was marked by political turmoil, including conflicts with the Papal States and rival factions. Johanna was married three times, with her second husband being Andrew of Hungary, whose murder led to further instability. Despite her challenges, she is remembered as a significant figure in the history of Naples.
