João VI
João VI was the King of Portugal from 1816 until his death in 1826. He was born on October 13, 1767, and became king after the death of his mother, Queen Maria I. During his reign, he faced significant challenges, including the Napoleonic Wars, which forced the royal family to flee to Brazil in 1807.
In Brazil, João VI established a court and promoted the colony's development. He returned to Portugal in 1821, but his reign was marked by political turmoil and the rise of liberal movements. João VI died on May 10, 1826, leaving a complex legacy in both Portugal and Brazil.
