Jiří Voskovec
Jiří Voskovec was a Czech-American actor, playwright, and director, born on April 19, 1905, in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia. He is best known for his work in the V+W Theatre alongside his partner Jan Werich, where they created a unique blend of humor and political satire during the interwar period. Voskovec later moved to the United States, where he continued his career in film and theater.
In addition to his theatrical achievements, Voskovec was also involved in the Czech resistance during World War II. He became a naturalized American citizen and appeared in several films, including "The Devil's General" and "The Good Soldier Švejk."
