Jewfish
Jewfish, also known as Goliath grouper, is a large species of fish found in warm coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly around coral reefs and rocky areas. They can grow up to 8 feet long and weigh over 800 pounds, making them one of the largest bony fish in the world. Jewfish are known for their stout bodies and large mouths, which they use to consume a variety of prey, including fish and crustaceans.
These fish are typically solitary but can be found in small groups during spawning seasons. Jewfish are considered a vulnerable species due to overfishing and habitat loss, leading to regulations on their capture in many regions. Conservation efforts are in place to help protect their populations and habitats.
