Goliath grouper
The Goliath grouper is a large fish species found in warm coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly around the Florida Keys and the Caribbean Sea. They can grow up to 8 feet long and weigh over 800 pounds, making them one of the largest grouper species. Goliath groupers are known for their stout bodies and large mouths, which they use to consume a variety of prey, including fish, crustaceans, and even small sharks.
These fish are typically solitary but can be seen in groups during spawning seasons. Goliath groupers are currently listed as a threatened species due to overfishing and habitat loss. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their populations, and they are often a popular attraction for divers and snorkelers in marine parks.
