Goliath Grouper
The Goliath Grouper is a large fish species found in warm coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean, particularly around the Caribbean and Florida. They can grow up to 8 feet long and weigh over 800 pounds. These fish are known for their stout bodies and distinctive mottled coloration, which helps them blend into their surroundings.
Goliath Groupers are primarily solitary and prefer to inhabit reefs, wrecks, and mangroves. They are carnivorous, feeding on a diet of fish, crustaceans, and even small sharks. Due to overfishing and habitat loss, their populations have declined, leading to protective measures in many areas, including the establishment of marine reserves.
