James Fannin
James Fannin was an American military officer and a key figure in the Texas Revolution. Born in 1804 in Georgia, he became a commander of Texian forces during the conflict against Mexico. Fannin is best known for his leadership at the Battle of Coleto, where his troops were surrounded and ultimately forced to surrender.
After the battle, Fannin and his men were executed in what is known as the Goliad Massacre. This event galvanized support for the Texian cause and is remembered as a significant moment in the struggle for Texas independence from Mexico. Fannin's legacy is honored in Texas history.
