William B. Travis was an American soldier and a key figure in the Texas Revolution. Born on August 1, 1809, in South Carolina, he became a lawyer and later moved to Texas. Travis is best known for his leadership at the Battle of the Alamo, where he fought for Texan independence from Mexico.
