Jacinta Marto
Jacinta Marto was a Portuguese girl born on March 11, 1910, in the village of Fátima. She is best known for her role in the Fátima apparitions, where she, along with her cousins Lúcia dos Santos and Francisco Marto, reported seeing visions of the Virgin Mary in 1917. These events attracted significant attention and led to the site becoming a major pilgrimage destination.
Jacinta was known for her deep faith and compassion, often sharing her food with the poor. She died at a young age, on February 20, 1920, from influenza. In 2017, she was canonized as a saint by Pope Francis, recognizing her piety and the impact of her experiences.
