Isabella of Angoulême
Isabella of Angoulême was a French noblewoman born around 1188. She became the Queen consort of King John of England after their marriage in 1200, which was politically motivated to strengthen ties between France and England. Isabella was the daughter of Aymeric, Count of Angoulême and Alice of Courtenay.
Isabella's marriage to King John was controversial, as he had previously been betrothed to another woman. She played a significant role in the political landscape of the time, particularly during the conflicts between England and France. After John's death in 1216, Isabella married Hugh X of Lusignan, further intertwining the noble families of France and England.
