Irish Government
The Irish Government is the executive branch of the Republic of Ireland, responsible for implementing laws and managing public services. It is led by the Taoiseach, who is the head of government, and supported by ministers in charge of various departments. The government is formed by the political party or coalition that has the most seats in the Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas, which is the national parliament.
The Irish Government operates under a parliamentary democracy, meaning that it is accountable to the Dáil Éireann and must maintain its confidence to remain in power. Elections are held every five years, allowing citizens to vote for their representatives. The government also works closely with the Seanad Éireann, the upper house, to create and amend legislation.
