Iranian government
The Iranian government is an Islamic Republic, established after the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which overthrew the monarchy. It combines elements of both theocratic and democratic systems, with a Supreme Leader holding significant power over all branches of government, including the military and judiciary.
The government consists of various institutions, including the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis), which is the legislative body, and the Guardian Council, which oversees elections and ensures laws align with Islamic principles. Citizens participate in elections, but candidates must be approved by the Guardian Council, limiting political diversity.
