Guardian Council
The Guardian Council is an important body in the political system of Iran. It consists of twelve members, six of whom are appointed by the Supreme Leader and six by the Judiciary. The council's main responsibilities include overseeing elections and ensuring that laws comply with Islamic principles and the Constitution.
Additionally, the Guardian Council has the authority to vet candidates for various political positions, including the Majlis (parliament) and the presidency. This means they can disqualify individuals who do not meet their criteria, significantly influencing the political landscape in Iran.
