Insight Learning
Insight Learning is a type of problem-solving that occurs when an individual suddenly realizes the solution to a challenge without trial-and-error. This process often involves a moment of clarity or understanding, where the learner connects different pieces of information to form a new idea or strategy.
This concept was notably studied by Wolfgang Köhler, a psychologist who observed chimpanzees using tools to reach bananas. His experiments demonstrated that these animals could solve problems through insight rather than through gradual learning, highlighting the cognitive abilities of non-human species and the importance of mental processes in learning.
