Inhalation Techniques
Inhalation techniques are methods used to deliver medication directly to the lungs, often for conditions like asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Common devices include metered-dose inhalers (MDIs), dry powder inhalers (DPIs), and nebulizers. Proper technique ensures that the medication reaches the airways effectively.
To use an inhaler correctly, patients should first exhale fully, then place the inhaler in their mouth and inhale slowly while pressing down on the canister. For nebulizers, a mask or mouthpiece is used to inhale a mist of medication. Following these techniques can improve treatment outcomes and enhance lung function.
