Indo-Caribbeans
Indo-Caribbeans are people of Indian descent living in the Caribbean, primarily in countries like Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname. Their ancestors were brought to the region as indentured laborers in the 19th and early 20th centuries, following the abolition of slavery. This migration was part of a larger movement of Indian laborers to various parts of the world.
Today, Indo-Caribbeans contribute significantly to the cultural, social, and economic life of the Caribbean. They maintain aspects of their Indian heritage, including languages like Hindi and Urdu, as well as cultural practices such as Diwali and Holi.
