Indigenismo
Indigenismo is a social and political movement that seeks to promote the rights and cultures of Indigenous peoples in Latin America. It emerged in the early 20th century as a response to the marginalization and discrimination faced by Indigenous communities. The movement emphasizes the importance of preserving Indigenous languages, traditions, and land rights.
In many countries, Indigenismo has influenced policies aimed at improving the living conditions of Indigenous populations. It advocates for greater representation in government and education, as well as recognition of the historical injustices faced by groups such as the Maya, Quechua, and Mapuche.
