Indian Kalaripayattu
Indian Kalaripayattu is a traditional martial art form that originated in the southern state of Kerala. It is one of the oldest fighting systems in existence, believed to have been developed over 3,000 years ago. Kalaripayattu combines strikes, kicks, grappling, and weaponry, emphasizing agility, flexibility, and strength.
The practice takes place in a kalari, a specially designed training space. Students learn various techniques, including the use of weapons like swords and sticks, as well as unarmed combat. Kalaripayattu is not only a physical discipline but also incorporates elements of yoga and traditional healing practices, promoting overall well-being.
