Iguana Species
Iguanas are a diverse group of lizards belonging to the family Iguanidae. There are several species, including the well-known Green Iguana, which is popular as a pet. Other species include the Marine Iguana, unique to the Galápagos Islands, and the Desert Iguana, found in arid regions of the southwestern United States and Mexico. Iguanas typically inhabit tropical and subtropical environments.
These reptiles are primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, flowers, and fruits. They are known for their distinctive physical features, such as long tails and dewlap, which is a flap of skin under the throat. Iguanas are also excellent climbers, often found in trees where they can bask in the sun and escape predators.
