Ideological State Apparatuses
"Ideological State Apparatuses" (ISAs) are institutions and organizations that propagate the dominant ideology of a society, shaping individuals' beliefs and values. Examples of ISAs include schools, religious institutions, media, and family. They function to maintain the status quo by influencing how people think and behave, often without the use of force.
Unlike Repressive State Apparatuses (RSAs), which enforce compliance through coercion, ISAs operate through persuasion and socialization. They play a crucial role in the reproduction of social norms and ideologies, ensuring that the prevailing beliefs are accepted and internalized by individuals from a young age.
