Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull
Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull is a stratovolcano located in the southern part of Iceland. It is covered by an ice cap, which is where its name comes from, meaning "island mountain glacier" in Icelandic. The volcano stands at 1,666 meters (5,469 feet) tall and is part of the larger East Volcanic Zone.
Eyjafjallajökull is known for its significant eruption in April 2010, which caused widespread air travel disruptions across Europe. The eruption produced a large ash cloud that affected flights for several weeks, highlighting the impact of volcanic activity on modern transportation and the importance of monitoring such natural phenomena.
