Hypertensive Disorders
Hypertensive disorders refer to a group of conditions characterized by high blood pressure during pregnancy. The most common types include gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, and eclampsia. These conditions can lead to serious complications for both the mother and the baby if not properly managed.
Gestational hypertension occurs when high blood pressure develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy without other symptoms. Preeclampsia involves high blood pressure along with signs of damage to other organs, often the kidneys. Eclampsia is a severe form of preeclampsia that can lead to seizures. Early detection and treatment are crucial for the health of both mother and child.
