Hyperdontia
Hyperdontia is a dental condition characterized by the presence of extra teeth, known as supernumerary teeth. These additional teeth can develop in various locations in the mouth, including the upper and lower jaws. Hyperdontia can occur in both primary (baby) and permanent (adult) teeth, and it may lead to overcrowding, misalignment, or other dental issues.
The exact cause of hyperdontia is not fully understood, but it may be linked to genetic factors or certain syndromes, such as Gardner syndrome or Cleidocranial dysostosis. Treatment often involves dental evaluation and, if necessary, the removal of the extra teeth to prevent complications.
