Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi
Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi was a Yemeni political and religious leader, known for founding the Houthi movement, which emerged in the early 2000s. He was born in 1956 in the northern region of Yemen and was a member of the Zaydi sect of Shia Islam. Al-Houthi aimed to promote the rights of the Zaydi community and address grievances against the Yemeni government.
In 2004, al-Houthi was killed by Yemeni government forces during a conflict that escalated into a broader insurgency. His death sparked further unrest and led to the ongoing Yemeni Civil War, with the Houthi movement continuing to play a significant role in the country's political landscape.
