Houthi Movement
The Houthi Movement, officially known as Ansar Allah, is a political and armed group based in Yemen. It emerged in the 1990s, primarily representing the Zaidi Shia Muslim community. The movement initially focused on cultural and religious rights but later became involved in broader political issues, opposing the Yemeni government and foreign influence in the country.
In 2014, the Houthis took control of the capital, Sana'a, leading to a civil war that has drawn in regional powers, including Saudi Arabia and Iran. The conflict has resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with millions of people facing food insecurity and lack of basic services.
