Hungarian Revolution of 1848
The Hungarian Revolution of 1848 was part of a series of interconnected uprisings across Europe, driven by demands for national independence and democratic reforms. It began on March 15, 1848, when Hungarian nationalists, inspired by the ideas of the French Revolution, called for greater autonomy from the Austrian Empire and the establishment of a parliamentary government.
The revolution initially achieved some success, leading to the formation of a new government and the adoption of the March Laws, which aimed to modernize Hungary. However, by late 1848, the revolution faced military intervention from Austria and later Russia, ultimately leading to its suppression by 1849.
