Human Papillomavirus
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a group of more than 200 related viruses, some of which can cause health problems. HPV is primarily spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact, often during sexual activity. While many people with HPV do not experience any symptoms, certain types can lead to warts or more serious conditions, such as cervical cancer and other genital cancers.
Most HPV infections go away on their own without causing any health issues. Vaccines are available to protect against the most common cancer-causing types of HPV. Regular screenings, such as Pap tests, can help detect changes in cervical cells early, allowing for timely intervention and treatment.
