Hoysala Empire
The Hoysala Empire was a prominent South Indian dynasty that flourished between the 10th and 14th centuries. It was known for its unique contributions to architecture, particularly the intricate temples built in the Hoysala style, characterized by detailed sculptures and star-shaped platforms. The empire's capital was Dvarasamudra, which became a significant cultural and economic center.
The Hoysala rulers, such as Vishnuvardhana and Ballala II, expanded their territory through military conquests and alliances. They were patrons of art and literature, promoting the use of the Kannada language. The empire eventually declined due to invasions from the Delhi Sultanate and the rise of neighboring kingdoms.
