House of Obrenović
The House of Obrenović was a Serbian royal family that played a significant role in the history of Serbia during the 19th century. Founded by Prince Miloš Obrenović, the dynasty ruled Serbia intermittently from 1815 until 1903, contributing to the country's modernization and independence from the Ottoman Empire.
The family is known for its efforts to establish a centralized government and promote education and industry in Serbia. Key figures include Prince Mihailo Obrenović, who expanded the territory and influence of Serbia, and King Alexander Obrenović, who was assassinated in 1903, leading to the rise of the rival House of Karađorđević.
