Horsetail
Horsetail is a unique, ancient plant belonging to the genus Equisetum. It is characterized by its jointed stems and whorled leaves, which resemble a horse's tail, hence the name. Horsetail typically grows in damp, shady areas and can reach heights of up to three feet. This plant reproduces through spores rather than seeds, making it distinct from many other plants.
Horsetail is often found in wetlands and along riverbanks, thriving in nutrient-rich soils. It has a long history of use in traditional medicine and is known for its high silica content, which is believed to support bone health and skin integrity. However, caution is advised, as some species can be toxic if consumed in large quantities.
