Hindu cosmology describes the universe as cyclical, consisting of vast time periods called Yugas. Each cycle includes four Yugas: Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga, with each subsequent age representing a decline in virtue and spirituality. The entire cycle is believed to repeat endlessly, reflecting the eternal nature of existence.
The universe is also viewed as being created and destroyed in a continuous process by the divine being Brahma, who is responsible for creation, while Vishnu preserves and Shiva destroys. This interplay of creation, preservation, and destruction illustrates the dynamic nature of the cosmos in Hindu thought.
