Herod Philip
Herod Philip was a son of Herod the Great and a member of the Herodian dynasty. He ruled as a tetrarch over regions including Iturea and Trachonitis from 4 BCE until his death in 34 CE. Unlike some of his relatives, he is noted for his relatively peaceful reign and for his focus on building and development.
Philip is often remembered for his marriage to Herodias, who later left him to marry his half-brother, Herod Antipas. This marriage caused significant political and social tension, as Herodias was a controversial figure in the region. Philip's legacy is less prominent than that of his father and other Herodian rulers.
