Henry Walters
Henry Walters was an American art collector and philanthropist, born in 1848 in Baltimore, Maryland. He is best known for his extensive collection of art, which included works from the Renaissance, Baroque, and 19th century. His passion for art led him to establish the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, which houses many pieces from his collection.
Walters was also a successful businessman, involved in the family-owned Walters & Company, a wholesale grocery business. After his death in 1931, he left his art collection to the city of Baltimore, ensuring that the public could enjoy and learn from the artworks he cherished.
