Hawara Pyramid
The Hawara Pyramid, also known as the Pyramid of Amenemhat II, is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located in the Faiyum Oasis. Built during the Middle Kingdom around 1900 BCE, it served as the tomb for Pharaoh Amenemhat II. The pyramid originally stood about 58 meters tall and was constructed using mudbrick, which has eroded over time.
The pyramid complex includes a mortuary temple and a series of burial shafts. The Hawara Pyramid is notable for its unique design, featuring a labyrinthine layout that was intended to confuse potential tomb robbers. Today, it remains an important archaeological site, offering insights into ancient Egyptian burial practices.
