Hassium
Hassium is a synthetic element with the symbol Hs and atomic number 108. It was first discovered in 1984 by a team of scientists in Germany at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research. As a member of the transition metals, it is part of the periodic table and is located in group 8.
Due to its short half-life, hassium is highly unstable and has no significant commercial applications. It is primarily used for research purposes in nuclear chemistry and physics. The element is named after the Hesse region of Germany, where it was discovered.
