Haitian Fauna
Haiti is home to a diverse range of fauna, including many unique species due to its varied ecosystems. The country features tropical forests, coastal areas, and mountainous regions, which support wildlife such as the Haitian solenodon, a small, nocturnal mammal, and the Haitian iguana, both of which are endemic to the island.
Birdlife in Haiti is also notable, with over 200 species recorded, including the vibrant Hispaniolan trogon and the Hispaniolan woodpecker. However, habitat loss and environmental challenges threaten many of these species, making conservation efforts crucial for preserving Haiti's rich biodiversity.
