Grand Duke Michael Nikolaevich of Russia
Grand Duke Michael Nikolaevich of Russia was born on December 22, 1832, and was a member of the Romanov dynasty. He was the son of Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich and Princess Alexandra of Saxe-Altenburg. Michael served in the Russian military and held various commands, eventually becoming a general.
In 1891, he was appointed as the Governor-General of Transcaucasia, where he worked on administrative reforms. Michael was also known for his interest in the arts and culture. He died on June 18, 1909, and is remembered for his contributions to the Russian Empire during a time of significant change.
