Goldbach conjecture
The Goldbach conjecture is a famous unsolved problem in number theory proposed by mathematician Christian Goldbach in 1742. It states that every even integer greater than two can be expressed as the sum of two prime numbers. For example, the number 8 can be written as 3 + 5, both of which are prime.
Despite extensive testing and many numerical examples supporting the conjecture, no one has yet been able to prove it for all even integers. The conjecture remains one of the oldest unsolved problems in mathematics, attracting the interest of both amateur and professional mathematicians alike.
