Giovanni Lanfranco
Giovanni Lanfranco was an Italian painter born in 1582 in Parma, known for his contributions to the Baroque style. He studied under Caravaggio and became famous for his dramatic use of light and shadow, as well as his ability to create dynamic compositions. His works often depicted religious themes and were characterized by their emotional intensity.
Lanfranco's most notable works include the frescoes in the Church of San Andrea della Valle in Rome and the ceiling of the Palazzo Barberini. He played a significant role in the development of Baroque art in Italy and influenced many artists of his time. He passed away in 1647.
