Gilbert de Clare, 7th Earl of Gloucester
Gilbert de Clare, 7th Earl of Gloucester (c. 1291–1314), was a prominent English nobleman during the late medieval period. He was the son of Gilbert de Clare, 6th Earl of Gloucester and Joan of Acre, the daughter of King Edward I. Gilbert inherited his title and vast estates after his father's death in 1295.
He played a significant role in the English Civil War and was a supporter of King Edward II. Gilbert was known for his military leadership, particularly during the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314, where he fought against the Scots. His life was marked by political intrigue and shifting alliances.
