Gestational surrogacy is a reproductive arrangement where a woman, known as the surrogate, carries and delivers a baby for another individual or couple, referred to as the intended parents. In this process, the surrogate is not genetically related to the child, as the embryo is created using in vitro fertilization (IVF) with eggs and sperm from the intended parents or donors. The surrogate undergoes medical procedures to prepare her body for pregnancy, and once the embryo is implanted, she carries the pregnancy to term. After birth, the surrogate relinquishes all parental rights, and the intended parents become the legal guardians of the child.
