German Togoland
German Togoland was a colony in West Africa that existed from 1884 until 1914. It was located in the area that is now Togo and parts of Ghana. The colony was established by the German Empire and was primarily focused on agriculture, with cash crops like cocoa and palm oil being significant to its economy.
During World War I, German Togoland was invaded by British and French forces. Following Germany's defeat, the League of Nations mandated the territory to Britain and France, leading to its eventual division into Togo and the Gold Coast, which is now part of Ghana.
