Georgy Dimitrov
Georgy Dimitrov was a prominent Bulgarian communist leader and politician, born on June 18, 1882. He played a significant role in the international communist movement and served as the General Secretary of the Comintern from 1935 to 1943. Dimitrov is best known for his defense during the Reichstag Fire Trial in 1933, where he was accused of arson but ultimately acquitted.
After World War II, Dimitrov became the Prime Minister of Bulgaria from 1946 until his death in 1949. He was instrumental in establishing a socialist government in Bulgaria and strengthening ties with the Soviet Union. His leadership contributed to the country's post-war reconstruction and alignment with communist ideologies.
